Chinese New Year – Firecrackers and Processions in Phuket!

Chinese New Year, also known as the ‘Spring Festival’ kicks off on the full moon between the 21st of January and the 20th of February. When it comes to Phuket, the Chinese New Year is particularly vibrant and colourful, and an experience that definitely shouldn’t be missed. Many Phuket luxury villas in Thailand with examples such as Kata Rocks are swamped with bookings during this season with visitors rushing to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Spring Festival.

As the Chinese New Year draws closer, the Chinese community in Phuket would decorate their abodes with a variety of colourful elements such as vases with flowers, red banners and various decorations. Trays of various dried fruit would also be mainstays in their living rooms to serve to visitors. Perhaps the hallmark of the Spring Festival is the Dragon Procession.
