The Meteorology Department of Sri Lanka announced that the adverse weather conditions that took the country by storm had passed the island by 6th December and was moving further away from the country. Residents are advised to still remain cautious especially those living near the coastal regions as the seas are still rough. However, according to recent weather statistics, a depression on the Bay of Bengal would cause low pressure to the area.

Tourists and locals travelling around the island were advised to do so with caution as the risk of landslides was still possible. With the roads and train lines cleared, people could travel around the country. Those heading to the cultural triangle in the hope of climbing the rock fortress of Sigiriya, one of the main things to do in Sigiriya, chose to stay at properties close to the fortress such as Water Garden Sigiriya.
