GoAir was launched towards the end of 2006 and has garnered serious recognition. In 2008 they received the award for the best domestic airline by Pacific Area Travel Writers Association. The airline is currently the fifth biggest in India and has recently unveiled plans to initiate a route between India and the Maldives.

This decision is quite a surprise since the airline was almost notorious in refusing to expand to international travel upon meeting the criteria to do so, which is five years of service and a fleet of 20 planes. Since traveling to the Maldives just got more affordable, travellers from India might be more likely to splurge on Maldives luxury resorts and there are many to choose from as well, such as Naladhu Private Island Maldives.
