Harvest Festival in Karnata – colourful, religious Thai Pongal festival

The festival of Pongal which has a religious significance was celebrated this year on the 15th of January. Hindu’s all over India celebrated the festival with bonfires where unwanted things were burnt as a symbol special treats were also shared with family and loved ones. In the Karnataka region the festival is also called “Sankranti”; cows and bullocks are decorated & fed special sweets made from rice.

People visited their near and dear ones dressed in colourful attire.
