Korea Supports Sri Lanka’s Efforts to Become the Hub of the Indian Ocean – Small Steps to Growing the Economy

Sri Lanka is currently aimed at a goal to become one of the higher middle-income countries in the world by the year 2025. To achieve this, it is necessary that the country is transformed into the hub of the Indian Ocean through obtaining a knowledgeable and highly comparative social market. Korea has agreed to help make this happen by holding various workshops.

The workshop held by the Korean Embassy in Colombo was aimed at over 50 senior officials to enrich their knowledge on STPI. Measures are being taken to improve the science and R&D side of the country as well, through specific training for professionals. It can be seen that currently, the economy is moving up, beginning with the improvement in living standards with new apartments in Colombo, the likes of One Galle Face, for example, is sure to draw in more money from businessmen visiting the country.
