Loi Krathong 2016 Blessed by a Super Moon – Bangkok’s Annual Riverside Lunar Festival

Thailand’s Tourism Authority recently hosted the Loi Krathong Festival at Bangkok’s picturesque riverside Santi Chaiprakan Park. Crowds gathered from all over the world to take part in this traditional Thai celebration. Being such a tourism hotspot as it is, finding a decent Bangkok resort and spa to stay at is never a tedious task, with options such as the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort situated nearby.

Loi Krathong takes place every year in November in Thailand on the day of the full moon. The krathong refers to a banana leaf raft embellished with flowers and incense. Patrons then float the krathong along local rivers and lakes in respect of the Thai River Goddess, Mae Khongka. The festival is a form of showing gratitude for the water as well as asking for forgiveness for polluting the water.
