Maldives Launches Mega Tourism Project to Attract More Tourists – Promoting Tourism on a Large Scale

The recent reports reveal that the Maldivian government has decided to implement a mega development project in a move to attract more tourists into the country. The Maldivian Embassy located in Colombo further stated that the Emboodhoo Lagoon Project is the country’s largest project aimed at tourism development, and will look to promote Maldives as a leisure and recreation destination on a global scale. With an estimated cost of 800 million USD, the project will no doubt benefit different hospitality providers, including Maldives five star hotels such as the popular Adaaran Prestige Vadoo. The project plans to develop nine islands in total, the first phase of which includes the construction of three islands along with a township that features activities that provide an exclusive experience for visitors. With an estimated cost of 331.5 million USD, the first phase of the project would result in the creation of over 5,000 job opportunities in the market. Inclusive of a cultural centre, the project is scheduled to be completed by mid 2018.
