Maldives tourism rises in July – heading towards another successful year for tourism

The Maldives, as always is heading towards significant changes for the better in the tourism industry. The number of tourist arrivals for this year has seen a steady rise so far. When benchmarking figures with the previous year, Maldives has seen an 8 per cent increase in the number of tourist arrivals in July. Taking the figures from the beginning of the year right up to July, in total it was calculated that 848,847 had visited the island.

The most number of tourist arrivals were from Europe in the first half of the year followed by the Asian region. China is also a major market from which a significant number of arrivals have been discovered. Resorts Maldives have seen the highest occupancy rates at the beginning of the year at 74%. With resorts such as Niyama Private Islands Maldives coming up recently in the Maldives, there is a bed space of about 30, 207 and supplies more than half of the total bed space of 42, 929.
