According to a recently published report by the National Statistics Bureau, the Maldives has shown a considerable growth in the tourism sector. This report which was compiled with information garnered from the country’s Tourism Ministry shows an increase in Maldives resort and guesthouse numbers as well as in bed capacity.

The available statistics show that bed capacity at all hospitality outlets in the country has risen to 41,255 which is a huge 80% growth when compared to 2008 when the bed capacity in the Maldives was at 23,464. There has also been an upward trend when it comes to the number of operating resorts during the past six years with visitors having plenty of options to choose from including the likes of Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort. In 2012 the country had 105 registered outlets when it came to resort accommodation, while by the end of 2017 the number had swelled to 135.
