These new regulations will incur penalties such as heavy fines and the impounding of vehicles. Reckless driving for example will result in a fine of Dh.2000, 23 black points, and a 60-day impounding of the vehicle. People caught driving under the influence will have their license suspended for a year. Heavy vehicle drivers, should they commit any sort of violation, will have their license suspended for an entire year and receive a fine of Dh.3000. They are also required to undergo further training once they regain their license.
