An annual Hindu holiday that is observed throughout Bali, the Nyepi Festival coincides with the beginning of the Balinese year. This year’s festival is set to take place on 17th March 2018 and the official period generally lasts till 6am the following day. Unlike some other festivals, this day is seen as a time when people engage in meditation, fasting and general silence as a sign of self-introspection; this is why Nyepi is known as the ‘Day of Silence’ in Bali. Kuta resort options on the island such as Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali as well as other accommodation providers are amongst the places where one can enjoy the usual onsite facilities and services during this period. This is ideal for travellers since the beaches, entertainment venues and shops in the island will be closed.
