Ooc Om Bok Festival 2018 – A Moon-Worshipping Ceremony!

The Ooc-Om-Bok Festival is a moon-worshipping ceremony which takes place on the evening of the 14th of the 10th lunar month before the moon reaches the zenith. The auspicious religious service is held at the beginning of the dry season by the Khmer people, a minority group when the rice harvest starts to ripen. The rituals are held to pray for happiness, good luck, balmy weather, and bumper crops.

Those who are staying in many a resort in Mui Ne including the likes of Anantara Mui Ne Resort, can partake in the traditional festivities taking place at the local pagodas in the area, such as releasing paper lanterns into the sky, floating them along the river, and getting the chance to taste and enjoy com dep, a type of sticky rice on the eve of the 14th.
