Over 250,000 tourists from China during Chinese New Year – Spring Festival 2018

The Chinese New Year is celebrated in many different countries with the festivities usually being centralised in the country’s Chinatown. Therefore, celebratory activities take place not only in Mainland China but also in countries such as Singapore, Korea, Vietnam, Australia, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia.

An estimate of 250,000 tourists from China was expected by the Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association during the Lunar New Year. Many travellers who visited this country during the new year celebrations based themselves in a hotel in Bukit Bintang, the likes of The Westin Kuala Lumpur as the entire region comes alive during the Chinese New Year Celebrations. According to a statement made by the president of MITA, 327,000 visas for trips had been issued in early March by the Malaysian Embassy in China.
