The Paro Tshechu will be held from 11th to 15th of March at Paro Dzong. It is considered as one of the largest festivals in Bhutan and is held to honour the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. Pilgrims from neighbouring districts also travel for the festivities. The festival which is held on the courtyard of Dzong comprises of Dance of the Lord of the Death and his Consort and black hat dance performed by trained monks. Travellers planning a trip to the region could consider finding accommodation at a Bhutan Hotel such as Uma by COMO, Paro.

During the last day of the festival a giant appliqué thangka is unrolled and displayed before dawn. This festival is held annually in each district and considered as a religious festival. More people participate in the Paro Tshechu than in other districts.
