Plans to Encourage Indian Tourists to the Maldives – Attracting Visitors to All Regions

On his recent visit to India, the Tourism Minister of Maldives, Mr Ali Waheed, conducted discussions with the Indian government on providing Indian tourists with access to all Maldivian regions. The Maldivian minister who met with the Tourism Minister of India, Mr K.J Alphons for these talks was in the country in order to attend February’s Global Business Summit in New Delhi.

With more than 90,000 Indian tourists visiting the Maldives in 2018, India is seen as a major up and coming market in terms of arrivals. While tourists have the option of staying at a luxury resort Maldives has to offer including the likes of Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas, the country offers budget accommodation as well. The expectation of increased Indian visitors has been seen in 2019 with February tourist arrivals from India showing a huge increase of 66.8% when compared to the same period last year.
