Procession of Our Lady of Fátima – A Religious Tradition in Macau

The annual Procession of Our Lady of Fátima in Macau will take place on May 13th 2015, offering visitors a chance to witness a cultural and religious event that has a rich history. The Procession of Our Lady of Fátima commemorates the appearance of the Virgin Mary to 3 children in the village of Fatima in Portugal in 1917. The procession will begin around 6:30 pm at St. Dominic’s Church and it is customary to see female devotees dressed in white as they make their way through the streets lifting a statue of the Virgin Mary. The procession route which runs for 2.5 kms ends at the Our Lady of Penha chapel on Penha Hill.
