Procession of Our Lady of Fatima- celebrating the Portuguese heritage

The festival of Our Lady of Fatima will be held in the month of May. The feast holds a great importance in the Macau calendar and is celebrated by the local Portuguese community. The devotees who are from the local area as well as around the world start off the procession after the mass at St. Dominic’s Church in Senado Square. A statue of Our Lady of Fatima placed on a bed of roses is then taken on streets to back to St. Dominic’s Church. Thousands of Catholics who take part in the procession carry candles, reciting the rosary and singing hymns.
