Promotional Campaign to Revive Tourist Industry – Rebuilding After the Easter Attacks

An initiative was launched last month in Sri Lanka to attract Indian tourists to visit the island nation following April’s Easter attacks that dealt a severe blow to the hospitality industry. Featuring 15 packages, this special campaign is the work of Sri Lanka Tourism which collaborated with The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, SriLankan Airlines and the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators. The packages which began from $180 per person target several key destinations in the island.

India continues to be a major contributor in terms of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka. Holiday tour packages and excursions are available from local tour specialists the likes of SoulTrek Sri Lanka and it is hoped that the number of foreign visitors will pick up in the coming months. As part of the Indian campaign, an official delegation also paid a visit to India to further enhance promotional activities.
