It is evident in the culture and heritage of both Thailand and Sri Lanka that Buddhism plays a significant role in shaping the values of society. Looking at Thailand, there are a number of temples or pagodas in all parts of the country. In addition to this, there are colossal, golden statues of Lord Buddha that are certainly iconic.
Sri Lanka too is full of stupas that have been set up by ancient kings hundreds of years ago and still stand strong. There are a number of Buddhist festivals celebrated here too. Moreover, the majority of the population in both countries happen to be Buddhists. These are the factors that most tourists find intriguing in both countries. Taking this into consideration both countries have agreed upon a joint campaign to highlight the locations of religious importance in both countries. Both countries will see an increase in tourism together. Also, hotels such as Cottage 42 which is one of the hotels in Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka will also benefit from this approach.
