A tuk-tuk ride is a common method of transport in Sri Lanka. Taking a tuk-tuk ride is also one of the experiences that tourists who visit Sri Lanka definitely want to have. According to the Prime Minister, Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe said that any tourist seeking to travel via tuk-tuk would be thinking about their safety and that the government is responsible for this. Furthermore, he mentioned that all the drivers who have taken the programme have been approved by the government and they hope that more drivers will join in the future.

For the time being, the initiative has been taken only for areas in and around Colombo. Still, the government wishes to expand these services to other parts of the island as well. So, tourists staying, for example, a hotel in Unawatuna, in a place like Cantaloupe Levels will be able to travel with ease using the ‘tourist friendly tuk-tuk service’
