Thailand’s River Revamp – Chao Phraya Gets a New Look

The leading news publisher The Straits Times shed light on the latest project taking place along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok; named the Chao Phraya Riverside Promenade Project, this initiative is aimed at increasing tourist numbers to the area. Overseen by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the project is expected to add a 7 km bicycle and walking lane that stretches from the Rama VII Bridge until the Phra Pinklao Bridge. The Chao Phraya River is famous amongst tourists for many reasons, be it an adventurous and entertaining river cruise in Bangkok from popular services such as Anantara Cruises to exploring the surrounding temples and taking strolls down the many bustling markets. The reports reveal the government is planning to relocate the communities residing along the river as the initial phase of this multi-billion-baht project gets under way. Once completed, residents and tourists will be able to walk for one and a half hours or longer on the scenic pathways along the riverbank.
