The tourism industry has greatly contributed to the economy in Laos. Recent reports that have been released by the United Nations’ World Travel and Tourism Council reveals that 114,000 jobs have been created in Laos by the tourism industry alone. This figure is expected to rise to 121,000 by 2028. The growth in this industry has also led to the development of infrastructure facilities in the country too.
There seems to be a growing number of foreign visitors travelling to places like Luang Prabang. Hotels in these areas, for example, AVANI+ Luang Prabang have experienced growing occupancy rates as well. Deducing that the tourism industry is important for the growth of the economy, the government launched a campaign called ‘Visit Laos Year 2018’. This approach was initiated in order to draw in more tourists to the country. The entire nation is putting in an effort to make this campaign a success.
