Ubud Writers Festival- Celebrating literature in Bali

The annual Ubud writer’s festival was held for the 11th consecutive year from 1st to 5th October this year at various venues. Many writers, readers and writing enthusiasts from all over the world participated in the festival. The event paid homage to the Hindu goddess of learning Saraswati, and was conducted with the theme “Wisdom & Knowledge”. Those who attended the festival found accommodation at resorts Ubud Bali has to offer such as Alila Ubud Bali which was also one of the venues of the festival.

Over 150 writers from 25 countries took part in the festival. Renowned writers such as the independent Foreign Fiction Prize winner Hassan Blasim, Eimear McBride who won the Baileys Women’s Prize were part of the festival. Apart from the main event there were various other special events such as literary lunches, workshops, book launches etc.
