For those who might not know, the Vesak Festival commemorates the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Lord Gautama Buddha. To celebrate this sacred event, Buddhists in the country organize such many wonderful festivities that can last up to weeks and even a month long. Some of these include extravagant pandols depicting the life story of the Buddha and almsgiving stalls giving away free refreshments for all.
