World’s First “Universal Museum in Arab World” – Launch of The Louvre Abu Dhabi

Taking the phrase ‘better late than never’ to heart, ten years since its conception, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is, at last, all set to open this year, despite being five years behind the scheduled 2012 opening.

The initial agreement was signed all the way back in March 2007, whereby France agreed to loan art from various top-notch French museums such as the Versailles Palace and the Louvre to Abu Dhabi, over a 30-year period on a deal worth $1.1 billion USD.

Known to be the rich man’s playground with its many high-end attractions and five-star hotels, Abu Dhabi makes for a great luxury holiday destination. However, if you’re looking for some peace and quiet away from the concrete jungle, the Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa by Anantara is an ideal accommodation option.
