Reaffirming its status as one of the premier tourist destinations in the world, the Maldives ended 2023 by registering its most-ever arrivals for a single year. Its goal for 2023 was to welcome 1.8 million tourists which it successfully reached on 20th December with the arrival of a Dutch traveller who was greeted with a special ceremony. The country eventually went on to record 1.88 million arrivals for 2023 and has even bigger ambitions for this year as it has set the arrivals target at two million.
The signs of it achieving this goal are already positive as the country has seen an increase in foreign visitors this month. As per the statistics released by the Tourism Ministry, in the first 13 days of January, 76,979 tourists had arrived which was a 10% increase when compared with the same period in 2023. At the time, 1,147 tourism facilities were operating in this Indian Ocean nation including 176 resorts such as Summer Island Maldives. Such private island properties continue to be a much-loved choice amongst travellers looking to stay at villas in Maldives and enjoy all the beachside bliss, fun adventures, intimate romance, and holistic wellness on offer.
