An Update on the Maldives Tourism Figures – Russia Coming On Top

In a closely contested competition between Russia and India, Russia once again emerged as the top tourist market for the Maldives. As of July 19, statistics from the Ministry of Tourism revealed that tourist arrivals from Russia reached 119,405, slightly surpassing India’s total arrivals of 118,638.

As of July 19, the Maldives welcomed a total of 1,016,719 tourists, showing a significant 13.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2022, when arrivals were 896,625. The United Kingdom holds the third spot with 85,884 arrivals, followed by China in fourth place with 80,769 arrivals. Germany remains in fifth place, maintaining its position with 70,065 arrivals so far this year. Visitors spend a lot of time on a resort island in Maldives in a property such as Embudu Village to get the full Maldivian experience.
