A natural event that was cause for much celebration, two baby giraffe calves were born in the Arabian Wildlife Park on Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. In recognition for this event, travellers staying at an Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island hotel or resort such as Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Yamm Villa Resort, Abu Dhabi, can enjoy special nature walks and wildlife drives that include getting a peak at the island’s newest two residents. A girl and a boy, these two baby giraffes bring the total number of Reticulated Giraffes in the island to 37. The world’s tallest mammal, this species of giraffe is known to grow up to heights of approximately 5.5 metres. At present the two giraffe calves are about 2 metres in height and are around 100 kg in weight. Spanning almost half the island, the Arabian Wildlife Park is also home to a wide range of other wildlife species that thrive within its protected environs.
