Automated Passport Channels at Phuket Airport: Faster Entry & Hassle-Free Travel

Phuket International Airport has introduced automated passport channels for international departures, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand confirming that the system began operating in June 2026. The Automatic Border Channel is designed to streamline immigration for eligible e-passport holders, offering added convenience for travellers heading to properties such as Layan Life, a popular choice among those seeking wellness retreats in Phuket.

Access is limited to qualifying passengers. Travellers must hold an e-passport valid for at least six months and be at least 120 centimetres tall. Pregnant travellers are excluded, while hats, masks, glasses and passport covers must be removed before using the channels. Visitors who do not meet the requirements can continue through standard immigration counters.

Renovation work was also carried out within a section of the arrivals area to accommodate the system. Flight schedules remain unaffected, although travellers are advised to arrive early and monitor airport updates.
