The past year has been quite an amazing year with the world’s tourism industry booming and it’s been the same for Thailand. Business Traveller China named Bangkok the “World’s Most Popular Tourist Destination” for the year 2019. The city of Bangkok managed to beat the major tourist destinations like Tokyo and Shanghai as well during the final round of selection.

Furthermore, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated at the China International Travel Mart 2019, that they will be taking measures to ease the currency burden on tourist as a result of the strong Baht. The idea of doing so according to the minister was to reduce the cost of travelling to and staying in Thailand. Even to date, the number of arrivals is said to be about 40 million. Among these tourists, the local cuisine took priority and riverside restaurants in Bangkok were often fully reserved. Hotels like Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort experienced good occupancy rates which are expected to rise this year as well.
