Dhaka North City Corporation’s Mayor, Md Atiqul Islam, officially opened the “Biman-Dhaka Travel Mart 2024”, a three-day international tourism fair. Over 80 local and international organizations offer discounted travel options, aiming to enhance Dhaka’s international appeal.
Mayor Islam stressed the importance of promoting unique historical and cultural heritage, like the language movement and liberation war, to attract tourists. He emphasized branding Dhaka as a “must-visit destination” in today’s brand-conscious world. Prominent figures, including the Secretary of Tourism and other industry leaders, attended the inauguration. They echoed the Mayor’s message, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts between government and industry to bolster the tourism sector, promoting Dhaka. Bangladesh hotels the likes of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka have greatly benefitted from these boosts. This travel mart signifies a collective effort to showcase diverse travel experiences within and beyond Bangladesh. It aims to not only stimulate immediate travel but also contribute to a long-term vision of positioning Dhaka and Bangladesh as global tourism leaders. As Mayor Islam stated, “Together, we can make Dhaka a name that resonates with travellers worldwide.”
