Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó announced the possibility of a new direct flight between Budapest and Bangkok. The low-cost Malaysian airline AirAsia is considering launching the flight this fall, though the decision isn’t finalized yet. This potential route signifies a growing travel interest between Hungary and Thailand, with popularity of each country rising in the other.
The news comes after a record year for trade between the two countries, reaching USD 730 million in 2023, and a doubling in tourism. A direct flight could further boost these connections by making travel more accessible and affordable, as well boosting both economies via 4 star hotels in Bangkok and Budapest alike, such as the Maitria Hotel Rama 9 Bangkok.
