Cambodia and the Maldives have signed several agreements to expand their bilateral ties, including a tourist visa exemption for up to 30 days. Maldives will also offer training courses on hospitality to Cambodian officials and provide a scholarship to a Cambodian swimmer. In turn, Cambodia will provide 10 scholarships to students from the Maldives to study at various universities in the Kingdom. The two countries also agreed to trade products such as rice, corn, pepper, cassava, fruit, garments, travel goods, and timber.
Cambodia and the Maldives first established diplomatic ties in 1995, and their leaders recently announced the newly formed cooperative initiatives during the Cambodian Prime Minister’s state visit to the Maldives. The agreements will help to maintain and elevate both countries’ relations in key areas, including tourism and trade. Cambodia plans to name a street in a coastal province the “Cambodia-Maldives Friendship Street” in honour of their diplomatic ties. Travellers visiting Cambodia can enjoy premium deals from Angkor Wat hotels such as FCC Angkor for a fabulous stay and continue exploring this wonderful region.
