China sees accelerated recovery of culture, tourism consumption – A great season for travel

Sanya Phoenix International Airport recently reported that in the first 15 days of January this year, it handled 929,000 passengers, marking a 15.3% increase from the same period last year. Additionally, Tongcheng Travel, a prominent player in China’s online travel sector, published a statement on tourism consumption during the 2023 Chinese New Year, stating that there has been a notable surge in travel demand during the festival period, particularly for medium- to long-haul trips.

The travel rush for the Spring Festival in China officially commenced on the 7^th of January when locals and tourists both began making vacation plans at Xiamen hotels. Many hotels in the city like Pan Pacific Xiamen saw a rise in the number of reservations.  After the pandemic, China also received a large number of tourist arrivals for the season.
