China sees accelerated recovery of culture, tourism consumption – A great season for travel

Sanya Phoenix International Airport recently reported that in the first 15 days of January this year, it handled 929,000 passengers, marking a 15.3% increase from the same period last year. Additionally, Tongcheng Travel, a prominent player in China’s online travel sector, published a statement on tourism consumption during the 2023 Chinese New Year, stating that there has been a notable surge in travel demand during the festival period, particularly for medium- to long-haul trips.

The travel rush for the Spring Festival in China officially commenced on the 7th of January when locals and tourists both began making vacation plans at Xiamen hotels. Many hotels in the city like Pan Pacific Xiamen saw a rise in the number of reservations.  After the pandemic, China also received a large number of tourist arrivals for the season.
