Along with a strong Baht and the sluggish tourism intake in Thailand, Chinese medical tourism continues to grow further. Thailand has quite a reputation for affordable cosmetic surgery, and this draws tourists from around the world. Thailand is also among the top 10 medical tourism destinations in the world – as it has 64 accredited hospitals – as of 2019. For several people, it is actually cheaper to fly to Thailand, have their surgery, enjoy a vacation at any of the Koh Samui resorts, the likes of Avani+ Samui Resort or any other resort in the country before heading back home.
It has been estimated that Thailand received 350,000 dedicated medical tourists every year, with Bangkok being the main city of their visit. However, it must be noted that South Korea still leads the way.
