Chinese Tourists Flock to Top Thai Destinations Under New Visa Agreement — A surge in Chinese tourism

With the recent signing of a mutual visa exemption agreement between Thailand and China, Chinese tourists are eagerly exploring Thailand’s captivating destinations.

Searches on Ctrip, a leading Chinese travel platform, have skyrocketed, revealing Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and Pattaya as the top-searched destinations. This surge highlights the appeal of Thailand’s diverse landscapes and cultural experiences to Chinese travellers.

Simultaneously, Thai interest in Chinese destinations has surged, with cities like Shanghai, Chengdu, and Beijing topping the search lists. Statistics from Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports indicate a significant influx of Chinese visitors, averaging nearly 16,000 arrivals per day in January 2024 alone.

As travellers seek to immerse themselves in Thailand’s beauty, accommodations like the Avani+ Samui Resort, a preferred and modern resort in Koh Samui, offer comfort and relaxation amidst the beauty of Koh Samui’s pristine beaches and vibrant culture.
