‘The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is the organizer of the prestigious event; PATA InSPIRE Awards which was held in Legaspi, Phillipines on the 27th of November 2015. The awards are categorized into; Best branded accommodation, Best independent accommodation, Best marine and wildlife tourism provider, Best culture and heritage tourism provider, Best responsible tourism destination, Best community based tourism initiative. Winners clearly demonstrate constant utilization and application of sustainable consumption approaches, which concept is further broken down into resource efficiency, value chain approach, eco-innovation, sustainable consumption, sustainable reporting, community action, cultural heritage, and collective impact, on which the contestants are judged. Out of all Sri Lanka Hotels, and chosen from amongst 19 global entries, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts emerged winners in the category of ‘Best Marine and Wildlife Tourism Provider’ which Chitral Jayatilake, Head of Eco Tourism stated was an honour. He further said that it was positive validation of the attempt that Sri Lanka makes to position itself as one of the greatest nature based tourism destinations of the world.
