Deira, the historic commercial district of Dubai, has undergone a transformation! The Dubai Municipality has completed the first phase of a plan to revitalise the area, specifically focusing on Old Municipal Street. This once-ordinary road has been reborn as a vibrant pedestrian walkway, designed to be a tourist haven.
The revamped street, now completely car-free, boasts new pavements and improved accessibility, making it easier for visitors to explore the area’s rich heritage. This includes the famous Gold Souk and other traditional markets that line the picturesque Dubai Creek. The aim, according to Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, is to breathe new life into these landmarks while enhancing the overall tourist experience. For those looking to stay near the action, the likes of La Suite Dubai Hotel and Apartments offer a variety of Dubai hotel offers, placing them right in the heart of this exciting new development.
