Garuda, the national airline of Indonesia recently launched direct flights between London and the popular island destination of Bali. The flight route features flights from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta to London, followed by a connection from London’s Heathrow Airport to Denpasar in Bali; these flights on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, operate each week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The addition of this service was in response to an increase in demand by the UK market for travel to Bali; in fact, in 2018 the UK was the fourth largest market in terms of international arrivals to the island. Tourism is a booming industry be it for cultural or coastal-based holidays in Bali. Beach resorts on the island including the likes of Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort are also a popular draw amongst tourists. While tourist numbers were affected last year due to natural disasters, it is hoped that this year numbers will pick up, and the addition of this new route is bound to help.
