Talks have been initiated by the government of the Malaysian state of Perak with the Thai Travel Agents Association for the possibility of establishing a direct flight connecting Bangkok and Ipoh; such a move connecting the capitals of Perak and Thailand is seen as one which will not only strengthen cultural ties but boost tourism as well. It is hoped that such an initiative would tap into the efforts of Thai Airways with travel packages which will promote Perak as a destination for Thai tourists. Such travellers visiting this Malaysian state can look to stay at a hotel in Ipoh, Perak on their sightseeing adventures; centrally located properties here like Travelodge Ipoh provide an ideal base to enjoy the best of this destination.
Further news about the proposed Ipoh-Bangkok Flight Route was also brought to light on the TravelDailyNews Asia & Pacific website which quoted Loh Sze Yee who serves as the Chairman of the Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development Committee. Speaking at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents Fair in Perak which was held from 12th to 13th August 2023 at the Ipoh Convention Centre, he made further comments on the matter; he highlighted the commitment of the state government to attract tourists by emphasising the many local highlights on offer as well as the need for cultural preparedness with the expected surge of arrival of Thai travellers.
