Providing passengers with an eco-friendly option of traversing the Chao Phraya River, an electric boat service officially launched recently in Bangkok, Thailand. As reported online by the Bangkok Post on 10th May 2021, ‘Mine Smart Ferry’ is the name given to this battery-operated boat developed by Energy Absolute, a SET-listed renewable power generation firm in the country.
The company had initially run a trial service of this electric boat from December last year which was offered free to passengers before it began its official commercial launch in late April 2021. Currently, the boat connects Nonthaburi’s Phra Nangklao Bridge pier and Bangkok’s Taksin Bridge pier; it features stops at 12 piers along the Chao Phraya River beside which are accommodation options like Chatrium Residence Riverside Bangkok. Those staying at such riverside serviced apartments Bangkok has to offer can easily make use of this new transport service, while properties offer their own complimentary shuttle boat services as well.
