A new era in luxury river cruising is set to unfold as the Scenic Aura, a 44-passenger vessel, prepares to sail between India and Sri Lanka from October 2027 through March 2028. Centred on the Lower Ganges, the itinerary blends a ten-day river voyage with land tours spanning 17 to 25 days. Highlights include high tea at historic Kathgola Palace and traditional Kandyan dance performances, complemented by experiences such as wildlife safaris and folk-dance workshops.
While exploring the ‘Pearl of the Indian Ocean’, travellers can stay at some of the best luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, including properties such as Araliya Hotels & Resorts, reflecting the country’s growing focus on upscale, boutique-style hospitality.
The venture also supports broader tourism goals. India’s ‘Cruise Bharat Mission’ is facilitating port development, while Sri Lanka aims to direct high-end visitor spending towards local guides and artisans. This will strengthen regional connectivity and encourage cultural exchange between the two nations.
