Japan’s toy market was able to surpass a whopping 1 trillion yen in sales for the first time by March 2023. The demand mainly came from foreigners who visited the country and purchased popular anime character toys from viral shows like “One Piece” and “Pokemon”. The total sales for stuffed toys, model vehicles, card games, and other popular toys summer up to 952.5 billion yen, a record high and an increase of 6.7% compared to last year. Foreign tourists were especially interested in anime figures and stuffed toys.
Japanese toys have been the ideal souvenirs for those who visit popular cities like Tokyo, Kobe, Nagoya, and Kyoto. Tourist arrivals have also hiked in numbers, resulting in more bookings for hotels in downtown Kyoto and Tokyo. Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi is one such ideal accommodation choice for those who visit Kyoto.
