Defending champion and professional freesurfer Dave Rastovich (Aus) was beaten out by big wave surfer Shane Dorian (Haw) at the recently concluded 2015 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy held at Sultan’s Point. In a climatic conclusion to a week of amazing surfing, Rastovich was left trailing by just 0.70 points before running out of time, leaving Dorian ahead by just enough to steal the win and enter the finals against Brazil’s Neco Padaratz. One of the highlights of this year’s event was the inclusion of Peru’s 2004 World Champion Sofia Mulanovich who brought some fierce skills to the competition.
One of the best hotels Maldives to stay at if you’re looking to catch some waves is the Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi. The hotels location affords a perfect left breaking down one side of the island and six other spots with exceptional waves just a short boat ride away!
