On 10th December 2021, Hong Kong opened registration for its Health Code System which aims to facilitate quarantine-free travel when it begins with Macau and Guangdong in mainland China. Potential travellers had the chance to create an account as well as get familiar with the system and its functions. It’s expected to help ensure that travellers are not from a high-risk category during border crossings.
The system will cross-check the residential address and visit records of the user (for the past 21 days) with close contacts and a list of confirmed cases of COVID-19; depending on these factors, one will be given a Hong Kong Health Code in either green, amber or red, with a green status needed for quarantine-free travel. Such initiatives are amongst the key measures in place along with stringent health and hygiene protocols being followed at accommodation providers like Park Hotel Hong Kong. For those who stay at such a Kowloon hotel, Hong Kong trips for business or sightseeing can be enjoyed once more.
