As with most destinations around the world, Hong Kong has been updating its travel advice for those wishing to enter. Travellers are urged to check for the newest guidelines before they visit which can be found at the official government website (https://www.coronavirus.gov.hk/eng/inbound-travel.html). Hong Kong has categorised countries and regions into three categories namely high risk (Group A), medium risk (Group B) and low risk (Group C) with relevant protocols in place. Travellers can also select from safe accommodation options including designated quarantine hotels like Dorsett Mongkok. Those staying at such Mongkok hotels Hong Kong has to offer under its “Anti-Epidemic Hygiene Measures Certification Scheme” can choose from 7, 14 or 21-night quarantine packages.
Hong Kong has also been making citizens use the LeaveHomeSafe, COVID-19 contact tracing smartphone app on a wider scale. In November last year, its use was made mandatory for those entering public facilities, courtrooms and government buildings. Then, in December 2021, the app’s use was broadened to cover 18 types of premises which included all cinemas, gyms and restaurants.
