Indonesia Approves Digital Nomad Visas – Bali to Be a Key Destination for Remote Working

As highlighted on the ABC News website in September this year, the government of Indonesia has approved plans to initiate a scheme offering digital nomad visas for foreigners; this leads the way for international remote workers who have a B211A visa to engage in online work when in the country for up to six months while being exempted from paying tax. The government is hoping that this initiative will attract more visitors and transform the popular destination of Bali into the world’s digital nomad capital.

This island continues to be a top choice amongst tourists who can enjoy working here for an extended period and experiencing a unique work-life balance. Such digital nomads can look to stay at a jungle resort such as Nirjhara and work amidst the comforts of a one-bedroom private pool villa. Bali is set to become even more attractive for these travellers with the government also mulling over plans to possibly extend digital nomad visas for up to five years.
