The Kandy Perahara, one of Sri Lanka’s most significant cultural parades and well-known throughout Asia is currently ongoing from the 21st of August to the 30th where it will hold the final parade. Consisting of two major facets, the Kumbal and Randoli parades, these processions are known through achievements of skill, adorned elephants, cannon shots and other displays of culture and are considered a uniquely Sri Lankan parade.
The processions also bring with them high amounts of local and international interest, drawing business to many craftsmen and hospitality brands such as the Earl’s Regency, a classic example of 5-star hotels in Kandy Sri Lanka, as the people flock to see the grand celebrations. It’s considered the grand topping to the season of festivals within the country – an exotic flourish to a time of celebration.
