Luang Prabang’s Visitor Number Surge by a Record 74%

The first three months of 2022 reported a record surge of visitors in Luang Prabang as the Laos-China Railway became operational. As reported on the 22nd of April 2022, the first quarter of the year witnessed 67,000 domestic visitors, a growth of 74% in comparison to the previous year’s statistics. As travel restrictions of Luang Prabang have been lifted, every hotel in Luang Prabang expects growth in their visitors.

With the help of provincial authorities, Luang Prabang has been taking necessary measures to improve safety measures in hotels like Avani+ Luang Prabang, which encourages both domestic and foreign travellers. Further, most tourism operators have refurbished and upgraded some of the popular tourist attractions of the city, in anticipation that the surge in domestic visitor growth will also be a reason for foreign travellers to fly to Laos without fear.
