By mid-September, the Maldives registered more than 1,130,000 arrivals for 2022 as the nation looks to achieve its target of 1.6 million tourists by the year’s end. These figures released by the Ministry of Tourism, showed growth in arrivals of nearly 40% when compared with the same period in 2021, highlighting the country’s remarkable tourism recovery since the pandemic. When considering from what nations travellers arrived, India continues to be the top source market with Russia and the United Kingdom coming in second and third respectively.
2022 also marks the golden jubilee year of tourism in the country as it looks to draw more tourists in the months to come especially during the Christmas and winter seasons. Such travellers can enjoy safe stays at properties like Velassaru Maldives which gives one a chance to experience the seclusion and comforts of a private island-based luxury hotel. Maldives holidays at such accommodation providers cater to couples and families alike and feature the best this destination has to offer.
